What is Generative AI (GAI) ?

Generative AI (GAI) is a new form of AI and a subset of ML, which can create new content such as images, music, or videos through instructions. GAI will use deep learning technology, such as Generative Adversarial Networks (GANs), to generate the new content. Humans can even communicate and learn from GAI models.

What are GANs? GANs are composed of a discriminating network and a generative network, it’s a kind of unsupervised learning. The generator keeps generating new content while the discriminator keeps distinguishing the content as real or fake. So, the more data you feed to GAI models, the more accurate content they deliver.

Nowadays, GAI models (such as ChatGPT or Claude) play an important role in our daily life and we use them as productivity tools to solve problems.

In short, the relationship between AI/ML/DL and GAI can be explained by the diagram below.
