Ethernet-to-the-Home Service
Edgecore’s Layer 2 and Layer 3 managed switches are deployed in apartment complexes across Korea to provide ETTH (Ethernet-to-the-Home) services to each household, enabling high-bandwidth broadband connectivity.
In Korea, the government offers decent and affordable housing units to improve the residential environment for the vulnerable. Around 15 construction companies are involved in the program to build these apartment complexes. With the growth of Internet demand, broadband connectivity and management are an important element for this kind of government-owned housing. Due to low cost and reliability, Ethernet switches are highly deployed in each building using fiber and twisted-pair cabling. Through mass deployment, ETTH services form the main connectivity in these government-owned apartment complexes. Considering the low maintenance and budget constraints of public-housing projects, Edgecore Networks was selected through the local Korean partner for its high reliability, complete management capabilities, ease of installation, and flexibility of services.
