Accton has long been a pioneer in open networking. Our wholly owned subsidiary, Edgecore Networks, has led the charge — becoming one of the earliest contributors to the Open Compute Project (OCP) and embracing the white box movement in 2014. By delivering disaggregated, standards-based hardware, Edgecore empowered customers to choose their preferred software stacks and architectures. In 2018, we deepened this commitment by advancing open network operating systems like SONiC, enabling greater flexibility, lower TCO, and an unprecedented pace of innovation across the networking ecosystem.
Two years ago, stepping into the role of CEO, I embarked on a journey of transformation, driven by a rapidly evolving market, shifting customer behaviors, and the accelerating impact of AI. We recognized a critical gap: The days of simply delivering standalone boxes are over. Today’s enterprises demand open infrastructure that is agile, scalable, AI-ready, and most importantly, delivers solutions that work out of the box and evolve with their business needs. While our focus on open hardware and SONiC enabled incredible flexibility, it often left the heavy lifting of integration to customers. Operationalizing disaggregated infrastructure, especially for enterprises, introduced complexity, delayed time-to-value, and created barriers to broader adoption. Disaggregation unlocked innovation, but operationalization lagged behind.
It’s time to evolve. We are not stepping away from openness, instead, we are stepping up.
Edgecore is expanding beyond white box hardware to become a full-stack infrastructure enabler, with Enterprise AI infrastructure as a priority, embracing innovations like GenAI multi-agent systems to retool workflows, automate cross-functional processes, and enable contextual reasoning across departments to unlock new levels of productivity, decision-making, and enterprise intelligence.
