TIP and OCP expand collaboration, announce first joint contributions from Edgecore Networks
Today, at the OCP Regional Summit 2019 in Amsterdam, OCP CTO Bill Carter shared details of the growing collaboration between the Telecom Infra Project (TIP) and the Open Compute Project (OCP). OCP and TIP are defining a path for solutions developed within their communities to be made readily available across both organizations. With core values of efficiency, scalability and disaggregation, the OCP and TIP communities are ideal partners:
- TIP brings an active operator community combined with capabilities for developing new technologies, powered by its Project Groups, Community Labs and operator-led lab and field trials.
- OCP brings expertise in defining and creating open hardware platforms deployed globally at scale, with a vast community and a long list of open source solutions showcased on OCP’s Marketplace.
Ultimately, with a broader range of companies collaborating across the two organizations to bring products forward, network operators will have more choice and flexibility.
Edgecore makes first joint contributions to TIP and OCP
We are establishing a pathway for companies to jointly offer technologies across both the TIP and OCP communities.
Today, we are announcing that Edgecore Networks is taking their Cell Site Router (7316-26XB), developed in OCP, and providing it as part of TIP’s technology validation efforts.

Edgecore is also contributing their first TIP Disaggregated Cell Site Gateway (7315-27X-DCSG) implementation to the OCP community, the first TIP-incubated technology that will appear on the OCP Marketplace.
