Edgecore Unveils a High-density 400G Switch for Next-Generation Hyperscale Data Center and Cloud Computing Environments
Edgecore Networks, the leader in open networking solutions, today announces the release of a new 400G cloud data center switch to expand its 400G product portfolio. The DCS240 is a high-performance 400G switch, designed for next-generation data center and cloud computing environments. The switch uses the latest Trident 4 chipset and Pentium D1519 processor with a BMC, delivering 12.8Tb/s switching capability, which enables network operators to respond to the growing demands for network capacity.
The DCS240 contains 32 x 400G ports, and 5+1 redundant, hot-swappable fan modules together with load-sharing, redundant 1300 Watt PSUs in a 1RU form factor. The switch delivers user-programmable forwarding and instrumentation capabilities at a very high port density, while maintaining power efficiency and cost reduction. In addition, the DCS240 supports 20W 400G ZR/ZR+ transceivers in its upper ports, allowing operators to extend their service range and expand their market size.
Together with the Edgecore DCS204, a 100G data center switch with a Trident 3 chipset, the DCS240 and DCS204 can deployed as a 100G/400G solution with higher server density and processing power, which provides greater economies of scale that benefit the entire distribution chain.
As operators struggle to meet high-volume network demands, reduce operational costs, and reach sustainability goals, 400G offers an ideal solution. The new DCS240 addresses operator requirements for new central office architectures, managed services delivery, monitoring and analytics networks, and Internet exchanges.
