Edgecore Networks, the Open Network Leader, Announces OCP Accepted Status for its Latest Cell Site Gateway, Providing Unprecedented Choice for Network Operators

San Jose, March 4, 2020 - Edgecore Networks, the leader in open networking solutions for enterprise, data center, and service provider networks, today announces OCP Accepted Status for its latest Cell Site Gateway, providing unprecedented choice for Network Operators. Mobile operators are rapidly building new capacity to respond to demands for new services and subscribers. Open network solutions are ideal for high-volume cell site and cell site aggregation infrastructure, as the use of disaggregated, open hardware and software reduces operator costs, increases choice and quickens the pace of innovation.

Edgecore provides cell site gateways for deployment at cell sites or as first aggregation points for multiple cell sites, and deep buffer switches for aggregation within the mobile backhaul network. The Edgecore products offer a choice of open source and commercial software from partners to enable deployments meeting specific operator requirements.

"As a provider of open network solutions to tier one operators worldwide, and the leading contributor to the OCP, ONF and TIP open communities, Edgecore understands operators' requirements to reduce the cost of network deployments while moving toward a more consistent and open infrastructure across mobile broadband and transport networks. The OCP Accepted status of our latest cell site gateway demonstrates our technology leadership and commitment to open networking." Said Jeff Catlin, VP Technology, Edgecore Networks

The latest AS7315-27X is temperature hardened and optimized for deployment in outside plant enclosures and supports base stations with full IEEE 1588 timing and GPS functions, backhaul uplinks at 10G, 25G or 100G Ethernet, and stacking ports. All of Edgecore's cell site gateways incorporate Broadcom® StrataDNX™ switch silicon, deep packet buffer memory, and offer Intel® Xeon® and Atom® Processor options.

"Edgecore has made many significant contributions to the OCP Networking Project over the past seven years, and we appreciate the latest OCP-Accepted cell site gateway contribution. We look forward to continued collaboration." Said Bill Carter, CTO, OCP Foundation
