Edgecore Networks Introduces Industry's First Open Network Switches for Enterprise Use Cases

Irvine, Calif., August 27, 2015 - Edgecore Networks, the leading provider of open network switches, today announced the AS4610 switch family with Power over Ethernet (PoE) options, the industry's first bare-metal switches to address enterprise-wide use cases, beyond the data center infrastructures previously supported by open networking.

The AS4610 switches provide 24 or 48 RJ45 Gigabit Ethernet ports, with four SFP+ ports for 10GbE uplinks.  PoE options make the switches ideal for applications in the enterprise campus, warehouse and logistics facilities, transportation hubs, hospitality and conferencing facilities, or other locations with wireless networking, security, video surveillance, and material packing and tracking applications.  The AS4610 switches without the PoE options function as Gigabit Ethernet top-of-rack switches or rack management switches in private cloud or public cloud data centers.

For both enterprise and data center applications, the AS4610 bare-metal switches offer customers the choice of Network Operating System (NOS) software: CumulusÒ LinuxÒ, and Pica8Ò PicOSTM.

'Edgecore Networks' open network switches have lowered operating and capital expenses for many public and private data center operators, increasing their flexibility and control over network operations,' said George Tchaparian, CEO of Edgecore Networks. 'With the introduction of our bare-metal AS4610 switch series and with the support of our NOS partners, Edgecore Networks is extending those open networking benefits for the first time to network infrastructures outside the data center and across the enterprise.'
