The device should be installed in a four-post rack or cabinet that provides bracket holes or hole patterns spaced at 1-U increments (1.75 in. or 4.45 cm). Ensure that the rack meets the size and strength requirements to support the intended weight. The device must be housed in a dry, clean, well-ventilated, and temperature-controlled environment. When mounting the device in a cabinet, ensure that a cold air supply is provided, and ventilation through the cabinet is sufficient for heat dissipation to prevent overheating.
For maximum stability, secure the rack or cabinet to the building structure of deployment with floor and ceiling brackets.
The environment should be as dust-free as possible to prevent clogging air intake vents and affecting the efficiency of the device cooling. Dust containing conductive material such as metallic or other conductive particles should be strongly avoided to prevent any damage to the device.
Follow the airflow direction of the device cooling system and prevent any restrictions to the airflow to ensure that the cooling system functions properly. Exhaust from other devices/equipment should not be blowing into the intake vents of the device. Leave sufficient space at the front and rear of the device for service and maintenance personnel to remove, install, replace, inspect, or repair hardware components. Allow at least 60 cm of space both at the front and the rear of the device.
Air filtration and dust prevention should meet the conditions stated in ISO 14644-1 Class 8, and this can generally be achieved by an appropriate filtration scheme as outlined here:
1.The room air must be continuously filtered with MERV 8 filters (G4/F5, 2.5-3.0% dust spot.)
2.Air entering a data center must be filtered with MERV11 filters (F6, 60-65% dust spot) or MERV 13 filters (F7, 80-90% dust spot).
Sources of dust inside data centers should be reduced. Every effort should be made to filter out dust that has a deliquescent relative humidity greater that the maximum allowable relative humidity in the data center.
Gaseous contamination should be within the ISA-71.04.2023 severity level of G1-Mild that meets:
1.A copper reactivity rate of less than 300Å per month and
2.A silver reactivity rate of less than 200Å per month.
For a data center with higher gaseous contamination levels, a gas-phase filtration of the inlet air and the air in the data center is highly recommended.
Conduct precautions to prevent unwanted electrostatic discharge (ESD) from damaging the device. Provide a properly grounded and shielded environment and use electrical surge-suppression devices that follow electrical codes.
For installations that require a separate grounding conductor to the chassis or cabinet, connect a grounding cable to earth ground, and then attach the grounding cable to the chassis grounding points. Always ground the device properly before you connect power to ensure proper operation. Meeting safety and electromagnetic interference (EMI) requirements is a must.
A protective earthing point on the chassis and on the modular DC power supply in addition to the grounding pin of the modular AC power supply cord is provided. For installations that require a separate grounding conductor to the chassis, keeping the earthing point connected to the earth ground is a must.
If the deployment site is experiencing (1.) improperly installed wires causing radio frequency interference (RFI), (2.) damage from lightning strikes when wires exceed recommended distances or pass between buildings, and/or (3.) electromagnetic pulses (EMPs) caused by lightning damage to unshielded conductors and electronic devices, please seek expert advice in electrical surge suppression and shielding for help and consultation.
In order to prevent or reduce radio frequency interference (RFI), please use twisted-pair cables with good distribution of grounding conductors to suppress cross-talking and/or any other common-mode interference. Apply grounding on each side of the cable for each data signal, if applicable.
When suspecting any potential electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) issues, particularly from power surges conducted over the lines to the equipment, lightning strikes, radio transmitters, and/or any similar devices as such, please seek expert advice.
Install the device in a secure area and only allow authorized personnel to access the device.
The device should be operating within the operational temperature and relative humidity shown in the hardware installation guide and/or quick installation guide. Product failure or damage resulting from misuse, abuse, accident, modification, unsuitable physical or operating environment, natural disasters, power surges, improper maintenance, or use not in accordance with the guidelines shall lead to warranty void.
