Edgecore Networks Contributes Industry’s First Open Design of Cell Site Gateway_ AS7316-26XB
Edgecore announced its contribution to the Open Compute Project (OCP) of the industry's first open design for a cell site gateway router that will enable service providers to deploy 4G and 5G wireless services with the economies of disaggregated open network technology. The Edgecore AS7316-26XB cell site gateway conforms to the "Cell Site Gateway Router" specification which AT&T has contributed to the OCP Telco Project. See more>>
[ PRESS RELEASE ] Edgecore Networks Introduces Open Networking for Cell Sites and 5G
Edgecore has contributed to OCP the detailed specification and design package for the AS7316-26XB gateway, which provides 2 x 100GbE QSFP28 ports, 8 x 25GbE SFP28 ports, and 16 x 10GbE/1GbE SFP+ ports in a 1U enclosure designed for deployment in outside plant cabinets and meeting NEBS 3 requirements. The AS7316-26XB gateway incorporates the Broadcom® StrataDNXTM Qumran-AX switch silicon, deep packet buffer memory, and an Intel® Xeon® Processor D control plane processor. The Edgecore AS7326-56X top-of-rack switch provides 48 x 10/25GbE SFP28 ports, 2 x 10GbE SFP+ ports, and 8 x 100GbE QSFP28 uplinks. The AS7726-32X switch provides 32 x 100GbE QSFP28 ports for use as a top-of-rack or spine switch. Both open network data center switches are based on Broadcom StrataXGS® Trident3 switch series silicon providing more buffering, larger table sizes, and improved telemetry and programmability features than in currently deployed data center switches. Edgecore announced that its ASXvOLT16 10G PON OLT has been fully approved by the Open Compute Project as an OCP-AcceptedTM product, which is immediately available and conforms to the "AT&T Open XGS-PON 1RU OLT" specification in OCP. Edgecore also announced it will contribute the complete hardware designs and introduce GPON OLT products in conformance with the "Deutsche Telekom Open GPON-OLT Specification" that has been approved through the OCP Telco Project.
