Edgecore Networks introduces the AS5912-54X — a high-performance top-of-rack switch with a deep-buffer design that is most suitable for cloud data centers and carrier access providers
Edgecore Networks, a leading provider of traditional and open network solutions for enterprises, data centers, and telecommunication service providers, is pleased to announce its latest 10GbE ToR switch — the AS5912-54X, a high-performance and high-availability switch that meets the network-scaling requirements of cloud data centers and carrier access providers. The switch can be deployed as a top-of-rack switch or as part of a 100 GbE or 40 GbE distributed spine, forming a non-blocking folded-Clos data center fabric with 48-port 10G downlinks to servers and up to 6-port 100G high-bandwidth links to spine networks.
The AS5912-54X supports 48 x 10G SFP+ ports and 6 x 100GbE QSFP28 uplink ports with 800Gbps switching capability. The switch not only provides comprehensive capabilities with its layer 2 and layer 3 features, but also provides advanced quality of service and features integrated hierarchical traffic manager. The hot swappable 5+1 redundant fan modules and redundant AC or -48 VDC PSUs enhance the overall switch stability and reliability.
Most importantly, the AS5912-54X is designed with an expandable packet buffer up to 6GB, which meets the network-scaling requirements of cloud data centers and carrier access provider deployments. With a supporting MAC address table of 750K and DDR lll memory up to 16GB, the switch is ideal for high-performance computing clusters and high-frequency trading applications. The AS5912-54X comes with the Open Network Install Environment (ONIE), supporting Open Network Linux (ONL), as well as compatible with commercial software, such as IP Infusion and SnapRoute.
