"The WM4201 Edge-Core Wi-Fi phone is one of the first mobile products with Skype offering the flexibility to enjoy the benefits of Skype calling while away from your computer," said June Chao, Edge-Core Senior Director. "In a Wi-Fi Hotspot, the WM4201 can automatically download Skype contacts and show them on the LCD color display. Users can easily make Skype calls without a computer. Edge-Core is happy to announce and bring this product to market with our worldwide partners." In addition to the availability of standard SkypeIn™, SkypeOut™, and Skype Voicemail features, the WM4201 also comes with Wireless Multi-Media (WMM) to improve voice quality and WPA/WPA2-PSK for secure wireless connectivity. To help users easily set up their home networks, Edge-Core offers a specially designed Wireless Cradle Access Point (AP) (model: WA4101-CAP), which charges the Wi-Fi phone and provides access to the user's wireless network. The Wi-Fi phone and cradle AP with charger received the 2006 iF Design award for design excellence. Combining the powerful communication functions of Skype with the power of mobility, the Edge-Core WM4201 will be available in Q3, 2006 with a suggested retail price of $199 euro excl. Please note that Skype and WM4201 Edge-Core Wi-Fi phone are not replacements for your ordinary telephone and cannot be used for emergency calling.
